Our Wines
The Madeys sold their first crop in 2007 to three local wineries that were pleased with the resulting wines–so much so that they all wanted to become repeat customers. Based on the quality and acceptance of the fruit at commercial wineries the Madeys took the next big step to establish their own label.
In 2008, Stephen and Lawrence Madey transported over 8 tons of grapes by refrigerated truck to Virginia Wineworks, a custom crush facility near Charlottesville, where winemaker Michael Shaps processed the fruit and made the wine. The first release was in the spring of 2009 and included Cabernet Franc, Rosé, Chardonel and a Muscat dessert wine. The Meritage Reserve, a Bordeaux-style red blend will debut in late October 2009.
