For The Hague Winery's 2008 harvest, the Madeys brought their grapes to renowned winemaker Michael Shaps, who oversees the winemaking at his custom crush facility, Virginia Wineworks. Michael’s wines have received numerous awards and recognition over the past fifteen years in Virginia. His Viognier was one of ten wines highlighted in the February 2008 issue of Wine Business Monthly in the article, “Hottest Small Brands of 2007.” He is also a partner in Maison Shaps & Roucher-Sarrazin in Meursault, France with Michel Roucher-Sarrazin, previously winemaker of Maison Chartron et Trebuchet.
